Utna Soap
A common practice during the festival of Diwali, is to take a ritual oil bath on the morning of Naraka Chaturdashi. Rooted in tradition, this bath is said to cleanse the body of impurities and the soul of negativities. Known as ‘Abhayanga Snan’ in Maharashtra, it is incomplete without the use of a herbal, scented powder called Utna.
Mindful of the crucial part that Utna plays in this quintessential Diwali ritual, we created the Utna soap bar. The first of its kind, this solid soap bar contained all the goodness of the Utna powder, minus its inherent messiness. We ensured that our soap was made of 100% herbal ingredients and went as far as the quaint city of Pondicherry to get it manufactured.
What we had then, was a thoughtful, functional and useful Diwali gift in striking contrast to the prevalent decorative Diwali gifts in the market.
